How to install DotNetNuke on a local computer

Description
  • You need to make preperations for fresh DotNetNuke installation and when done, open the default Install page in browser.
  • Follow 5 steps to a clean install.
  • Step 1: Download .zip file from www.dotnetnuke.com
  • Step 2: Create database and SQL server login
  • Step 3: Create website folder and unzip downloaded .zip file
  • Step 4: Create virtual directory in IIS and set up the necessary permissions
  • Step 5: Run DNN Install wizard in your browser
  • Check ‘Typical’ installation method. Click Next to proceed.
  • Checking file permissions page will allow you to test that this DNN installation can create or delete folders/files.
  • Click on Test permissions button. You can see the result of test above the button itself.
  • Click Next button. In this step, configure database settings according to database type. Check on SQL Database option. Fill other entities and click on Test Database connection button. You will see result there. If it is successful, click on Next button.
  • Wait till installation of database is complete. Click on Next button.
  • Now, it is the time to configure host user account. Fill entities in the form and click Test SMTP settings button. If it is successful, click on Next button.
  • Next page will be for portal settings. Give title, admin settings and properties of portal. Click on Next button when done.
  • DotNetNuke portal will be installed on your local computer.
