Becoming familiar with the Plesk interface

  • Home screen gives quick access to all most important tools in each area of Panel.
  • Hosting services in Plesk 10 have been restructured. You have a customer account, which is used to log into the Panel. The account never expires, but this alone doesn?t actually provide you any hosting services.
  • When you sign up for a hosting plan, new Subscription is added to your account. Customer account provides you access to subscriptions. You can have multiple subscriptions in an account. It is possible to switch between them using drop down menu.
  • Interface will be changed to display other subscriptions.
  • Go to Account tab. You will get detailed information about your Subscriptions in this listing. You can click on a link to know about Subscriptions. You can click on Switch to subscription tab corresponding to domain IPs to select other subscription.
  • If you want to allow other users to access Panel for managing sites, installed apps or email services under your domains, you can directly create User Accounts for them.
  • Accounts are assigned various roles and you can set permissions to them for giving control over exactly what kind of access your users can have to your subscription. User accounts created on one subscription don?t have access to others.
  • Go to Mail tab. You can create and manage email accounts associated with your domains in this section. You can set up mailbox, aliases, auto reply and forwarding condition for each mailbox.
  • Go to Websites & Domains. It is the area of Panel that gives you complete control over your websites and their content. Depending on features activated on your subscription, you can have different options available to you.
  • When your hosting account was activated, it was configured with one new website assigned to domain name you specified while signing up. If your hosting package allows you to use more than one domain name, you can use additional domain slots to setup more sites.
  • Go to Applications tab. Plesk comes with built in application installer that is prefilled with a number of useful applications and hosting folder may have added even more to it. You can view present apps and install new ones with this section.
  • Statistics tab allows you to view detailed reports on how resources provided with your subscription are being used.
